Branding & themes

For admins

Branding sits in Platform admin → Settings → Branding. It controls how the platform looks for everyone in the workspace.

Pick one of the bundled themes as the starting point:

  • Civic — cream paper, teal accent, serif italic display. The default.
  • Terminal — dark phosphor green; for late-night comfort.
  • Academy — warm cream + navy/gold, evokes traditional school stationery.
  • Staffroom — pink/sky-blue primary-school feel.
  • Broadsheet — newspaper aesthetic for a print-feel home page.
  • Lecturehall — chalkboard-meets-modern.
  • Gallery — minimalist gallery white with restrained accents.
  • Plotter — engineering-drawing tones, CAD-precise feel.
  • Morningdew — soft pastels for a calm administrative experience.
  • Forest — deep greens with botanical accents.
  • Midnight — proper dark mode, true blacks.
  • Coral — warm corals + sea-green; coastal academy aesthetic.

Every theme exposes the same token contract, so customising one is a matter of overriding individual CSS variables.

Per-workspace, you can override:

  • Primary accent colour — appears on buttons, focus rings, brand ribbon
  • Logo — appears in the masthead + login screen + email headers
  • Favicon — browser tab icon
  • Brand ribbon — the gradient strip at the bottom of every page
  • Page title — the workspace name shown to users
  • Login screen tagline“Welcome to Acme Trust”

Changes preview live before you save. The save commits the change for everyone in the workspace.

Sub-themes per academy: each academy in the trust can override the trust-level colour accent + logo. Useful when academies have their own identity (sixth forms typically do).

When a user is in a context scoped to a specific academy (e.g. browsing the catalogue at a specific academy), the academy’s overrides apply over the trust theme.

A small but distinctive choice: how status pills render. Three options:

  • Filled (default) — coloured background, dark text
  • Outline — coloured border, no fill
  • Solid — bold high-contrast for accessibility

Set globally per workspace. Affects every status chip, priority badge, and tag in the platform.

The branding overrides apply to outbound transactional emails too — ticket replies, approval requests, password resets. The email template uses the workspace logo, ribbon gradient, and accent colour automatically.

If you change branding, the next outbound email reflects it. No template to edit.

There’s a Reset to defaults button at the bottom of the page. Restores everything to the chosen theme’s defaults. Doesn’t delete any uploaded logos — they stay in storage in case you want them back.
