Licence & maintenance status
For adminsLicence
Section titled “Licence”The licence page surfaces what the Keystone licensing portal told this installation the last time it phoned home — licence type, maintenance state, and the latest available release.
What it shows
Section titled “What it shows”- Licence type — perpetual / time-limited / trial.
- Licensed to — trust name, registered email.
- Maintenance status — active / expired. Drives the Update available banner; expired maintenance doesn’t lose features but you stop seeing release notifications.
- Latest release — what’s available on the licensing portal. Compare with the Running version on the system page to see if an update is pending.
- Last checked in — when the installation last successfully phoned home.
Force a check-in
Section titled “Force a check-in”Click Check in now to push a synchronous request to the licensing portal. Useful when:
- The portal team has just renewed your licence — you don’t want to wait for the daily scheduled check-in.
- The status looks stale and you want confirmation.
- Diagnostics: testing whether the install can reach the licensing portal.
If the request fails (no network, portal down), the page tells you. The cached snapshot stays put.
Update banner
Section titled “Update banner”The Update available banner on the admin shell is gated on two flags:
- The latest release on the portal is newer than the running version.
- Maintenance is active.
An installation with expired maintenance won’t see the banner — even if newer releases exist. That’s deliberate: you can’t apply releases past your maintenance window.
What it’s not
Section titled “What it’s not”- The licence page isn’t a billing surface. Renewal happens through the licensing portal (or via Alresford directly), not here.
- It doesn’t push updates. The banner links to the release notes; the update itself is a server-side action (your installer, your sysadmin).
Gotchas
Section titled “Gotchas”- The first visit after install triggers a synchronous check-in. The page may take a few seconds to render on that first hit while the request completes.
- Network failures don’t fall back to a longer-cached snapshot. If the portal is unreachable for a week, the status will say last checked in 7 days ago — note that and decide whether to escalate.
- The licence row is workspace-agnostic — there’s one licence per install, not per workspace. Even trust-multi-tenant installs share one licence record.
