System status & incidents
For everyoneSystem status
Section titled “System status”The Status page (link in the portal masthead, or /status) shows the current health of every system the trust runs. Before you raise a ticket for something like “my email isn’t sending” or “SIMS is slow”, glance here first — there’s a good chance the helpdesk already knows.
Reading the lights
Section titled “Reading the lights”Each service shows one of four states:
- 🟢 Operational — working normally
- 🟡 Degraded — slow, intermittent, or partially unavailable
- 🔴 Outage — broken; we know
- 🔵 Maintenance — scheduled work, expected back at the time shown
If the thing you’re about to ticket is showing 🟡 or 🔴, click into it — the incident page tells you what’s affected, when we noticed, and what we’re doing about it. There’s no need to raise another ticket; you’ll get an email when it’s resolved.
Subscribing to updates
Section titled “Subscribing to updates”Click Subscribe on the status page to get an email when the status of a particular service changes. The default subscription is “all critical services” but you can narrow this to a specific one if you only care about (say) printing.
Subscriptions are per-user — if you change roles, you might want to update them.
Past incidents
Section titled “Past incidents”The status page also lists the last 30 days of incidents with their resolution times. This is useful when you’re wondering “is this thing always slow on Mondays?” — usually the answer is in the history.
If a particular service breaks every Monday morning, that’s a problem to raise with the helpdesk, not a coincidence to live with.
